Marijuana is a huge problem in the United States. Although it is used as a pain killer in over 23 states, it causes health issues such as heart attacks, increased blood sugar, and increased heart rate. It can also cause psychological problems like anxiety and depression. The drug in Marijuana that causes all of the psychological issues is called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

As a solution, scientists should genetically modify pot so that there is less THC in it but keeps the same flavor. This will prove to be less dangerous toward the human body. Although this solution will be safer, the reason most people smoke Marijuana is because they like the sensation of being “high”. If scientists genetically modify the plant, its sales will most likely greatly decrease. Even though the same taste would be there, you wouldn’t be able to get as high as before the plant was experimented on. People will probably complain about the change even though it is illegal. There will still probably be people who purchase it but sales will definitely decrease.
